The Veiled Virgin Statue
The Veiled Madonna is a very famous bust from the Italian period and was created by Giovanni Strazza.
The distinctive feature of this bust sculpture, apart from the fact that the figure is the Virgin Mary, is also the design of its veil. Such a thin and soft veil covers Mary’s head like a real fabric, making Mary and her surroundings so sacred and solemn.
The Virgin Mary’s life was full of devotion and sacrifice. She was revered for giving birth to and raising Jesus and was revered as “The Holy Mother”. Gazing at this masked Virgin statue, you can feel the tenderness and greatness of the mother, and you will also be impressed by the superb carving skills of the sculptor Strazza.
Tracing the history of the placement of this statue, we can find that it was created by Strazza in Rome around 1850 and then moved to Newfoundland in 1856. However, after 1862, the statue was placed in St. John’s Cathedral. Showcase the monastery.
The value of the original statue of the Veiled Virgin is inestimable, but its copies are collectible. If you plan to own such a lifelike sculpture, you can contact our K-source.
Giovanni Strazza carved this Veiled Madonna from a single piece of finished Carrara marble because Strazza showed a great talent for sculpture from an early age, which gradually developed in the school with his father. He developed his own carving style and techniques and gradually developed a very high level of carving craftsmanship, thus creating such a world-famous masked statue.
