Flying Mercury Bronze Statue
The Mercury bronze statue is based on one of Mercury by sculptor Giambologna.
The Mercury bronze depicts a naked young man. He is Mercury, one of the twelve gods in Roman mythology. He wears a winged hat (petasos) and holds a caduceus in his left hand, raising his right hand high, lifting his left foot, and stepping on a head with his right foot. This pose resembles flying or running in the air. The body opens out flamboyantly as if to advertise the beauty and slenderness of the limbs.
Meticulously crafted, this flying Mercury bronze statue captures graceful movement. The intricate details of the sculpture are clearly sculpted, with the distinct feathers on the wings and the texture of the snake’s surface visible. The sculpture is mounted on a sleek black marble base for a sophisticated, textured look.
